Some of our favorite getaways aren’t about passport stamps or oceanfront resorts. They’re the quiet ones. The slower-paced, just-what-we-needed kind. And that’s exactly what we found in Bonneau Beach, South Carolina—a little lakeside gem where our family (dogs included!) got to unplug, unwind, and just be.
🌳 The Spot: Cozy, Laid-Back, and Pup-Approved
We found a charming Airbnb nestled in the heart of Bonneau Beach, just a short walk from the lake. The kind of place where you wake up to birdsong, sip coffee on a porch, and know your dogs are safe to roam in the fenced backyard while the kids watch turtles off the dock.
Inside, it was clean, cozy, and thoughtfully stocked. Outside, it had everything we needed:

✔️ A lake breeze that made us forget we weren’t at the ocean
It was proof that a great stay doesn’t need to come with a beachfront view—just a good vibe and a place to make memories.

And the best part? We never once felt they were an afterthought. They was just part of the family—like always, they even had doggie bowls ready for the pups as well.

The lake had that easygoing feel. There is a super cute little bar/restaurant not too far around the corner, and an adorable little family diner that has an amazing breakfast. Even the local gas station was friendly and accommodating! And the whole trip reminded me why I always recommend places like this to my clients: simple, calm, and full of the little things that become the big memories.
